The portfolio section is the "personal" section of my site. Here I post many information about my life outside of being commissioner. If you have a question about anything posted on this page, send me an email. Potential employers can find my resume here (Microsoft Word) and letters of recommendation are available upon request.

The portfolio page is composed of four sections: press material, programming projects, website design and professional information.

The Press Material Section
Visit the
Press Section

The Press Section showcases selected newspaper articles and videos that have featured my activities in the Maple Avenue Fire Department.

Images from the article are shown along side a brief description of the article which is available for download. Wherever possible, images are provided in color and in high-resolution separately from the article. Most of the articles are simply scanned in from the newspaper themselves, but online links are provided if available.

It's important to me that my constituents know how active I am in serving and representing them - and the press section helps show that. Additional press information can be obtained by emailing me.

Programming Projects

Programming Section

As a computer scientist, I am fortunate that I can put my education to use for the benefit of the community. In constructing this site, I created a few custom programming modules that are collectively used to bring RichardSpackmann.com to life. Since much of the code used to bring this site to life was open-source, its only fair that my components be free for others use.

Website Design
Visit the
Website Design Section

The Website Design Section shows some of the websites that I manage as one of my hobbies. I currently manage two websites: RichardSpackmann.com and MAFD.org. MAFD.org was started back in the summer of 1999 as the website for the Maple Avenue Fire Department and has since under gone three major re-designs to its current version. The lifecycle and development of MAFD.org is also depicted to illustrate the level of design that was needed to bring MAFD.org to life.

As commissioner, I have also designed a prototype website for the Greenfield Fire District proposed to be named GFFD.org.

Professional Information

Professional Section

The professional section is where I can show case some of my professional accomplishments as a computer scientist. My resume is available for download in a variety of formats as well as additional information.

My resume lists my education, professional skills/training courses, professional experience, projects, patents, publications and extracurricular activities. I make every attempt to keep my resume up to date - if you have any questions, simply email me.

My current research areas include active networking, network management, self-organizing systems and mobile ad hoc networks (MANET).

Letters of recommendation and references are available upon request.
