Voice Dialer Update

  Wednesday, January 7th 2009

The development for voice dialing of dispatch information is about to be pushed out to the server for testing.

If anyone wishes to receive these calls as part of the testing phase, please let me know.

One of the issues however is that I am paying for the cost per call (3 cents) out of my own pocket - and while that may not seem like a significant cost, it can add up. So once I feel testing has been satisfactory completed, I may end up disabling the service, or throttling it back (i.e. removing some of the testers from the list to cut down on costs).

Samples:

  1. EMS - Patient Choking (334Kb .wav file)
  2. Fire Alarm (335Kb .wav file)
  3. HAZMAT call (325Kb .wav file)
  4. Motor Vehicle Accident (301Kb .wav file)
  5. EMS - Patient Overdose (359Kb .wav file)
  6. Structure Fire (300Kb .wav file)
These samples are directly from rip and run's to the Maple Avenue fire company. This is the audio that you will hear when the system calls a subscriber.

Essentially the voice dialer takes the type of call, translates it into a more user friendly description (if necessary), informs the user of the address and name of the location (Wal-Mart, etc. if available) and the time of the dispatch. There are alot of features that are configurable, but those will be listed at a different date.

Any questions, just let me know!
